Hand crafted furniture, pottery and lunch

Entrance into showroom

This past Wednesday, Bob and I had a special treat.  We were invited with many of our fellow innkeepers to visit the Shackleton Thomas Furniture & Pottery Showroom and Workshops.  Charlie and Miranda graciously gave us a VIP tour.  Miranda demonstrated her incredible talent decorating her hand made pottery.  Charlie took us through the workshop and we watched as the furniture makers hand-crafted beautiful furniture.  Truly these furniture makers and potters are amazing, talented artisans.

After the great tour, they fed us a delightful lunch with wraps made by the Barnard General Store.  Would you believe, they encouraged us to sit and eat in the showroom on their fabulous tables.  We of course, hesitated, but Charlie wanted to show us that this fine furniture is meant to be used, not just a pretty show piece.

It isn’t like this was our first time in the showroom, and although, we do send many of  The Canterbury House  Guests to see this astonishing showroom and workshop, I hate to admit it…it’s been awhile.     What we experienced was a quite electric.  Charlie and Miranda are so passionate about what they do and they are extremely proud of their finished product and the artisans who create along with them.  Check out their website  www.shackletonthomas.com
