The Results Are In…..Wonderful CBHM Week-end

2012 Medal for Runners

Wow…once again a wonderful Covered Bridges Half Marathon week-end!  The week-end started out looking like a weather wash out, but race day arrived and magically the skies cleared, cool temperatures…perfect for a half marathon.

If you follow my blogs, you know that here at the Canterbury House. Bob and I are fortunate to have a group of repeat guests for the race.  We look forward to “our crew” coming back each year.  Our excitement begins in December, with registration day for the race.  We watch our emails….did everyone get in?  Within 24 hours of registration, whew, we get the emails…They are all coming!

As race week-end approaches, our excitement grows.   I bake my donation of brownies for the Chamber of Commerce Pasta Supper, Race day breakfast supplies are bought…..WE ARE READY!!!  This year was no different.  Usually, Mitch, Richmond, Eileen and Barbara are first to arrive on Friday.  Polly and Jim arrive Friday evening  (they DO have to drop their little guys at Polly’s Mom’s first).  Colleen, Neil, Brian and Kelly arrive on Saturday.  (Colleen and Neil drop their son Luke with grand-mom too!  Next year it will be Luke and his baby brother or sister).  Brian could be doing a triathlon before coming here!!!!   We are happy, our running chickadees are home!  This year, not everyone ran…Colleen opted out, she IS expecting the next generation of runner!  Brian ran, but didn’t have a chip, so his time wasn’t recorded…he was the voice of encouragement for Kelly (whether she wanted his encouragement or not!).

This year, I went to the Woodstock Covered Bridge to cheer our gang on.  I saw Neil, Mitch and Richmond pass by.  I somehow missed Jim passing by.  Now, not that I am trying to start any competition between the sexes, BUT….. all of the Canterbury Ladies, Eileen, Barbara, Polly and Kelly….flew by me so fast…they were blurry figures that I couldn’t make out (check out the picture below….no runner in the frame!!)

Of course, this year was NO DIFFERENT than any other year with our group…everyone complains,  I haven’t trained, my times will be awful.  Now I know I might be a bit biased and a proud Mama,  but, they all end up doing well.

This year The Canterbury House Winner was Kelly Balz with a net time of 1:40:22. CONGRATULATIONS KELLY! Check out all of our runners times..www.thecanterburyhouse.com/2020MARATHONresults.HTML. Great job everyone!!!

So, now everyone has gone home, and Bob and I have another wonderful half marathon memory for our book as innkeepers.  Can’t wait until next year!! See you in 2013.  Thanks Canterbury CBHM Crew…you are the best!!

PS.  I too, received MY medal for the race  (no, don’t get excited….I most certainly didn’t run),  Eileen presented me with her medal…Thanks Eileen, I will treasure it.  Frankly, it is the ONLY way I will ever get one!!!!!
